Description
Elevate your boardroom with the stunning Bayou Brees Conference Table, a masterpiece crafted from reclaimed Louisiana sinker cypress. Named in honor of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, a symbol of resilience and excellence, this table embodies the spirit of the bayou with its unique design and storied origins. The name "Bayou Brees" evokes a sense of strength and community, making it an inspiring centerpiece for collaborative spaces. Named "Bayou Brees" to evoke the serene and wild spirit of Louisiana's bayous, this table pays homage to the natural beauty and rich history of the region where its wood originated. The name also hints at a gentle breeze flowing through the wetlands, symbolizing a harmonious blend of strength and tranquility that this piece brings to any boardroom or collaborative space.
The table's construction showcases the unique allure of sinker cypress, sourced from ancient bald cypress logs that sank into the riverbeds of the southeastern United States over a century ago during 19th-century logging efforts. These logs, preserved by water for over a century, have absorbed minerals and tannins, resulting in a mesmerizing palette of warm olives, greens, subtle reds, and yellows, complemented by tight grain patterns (often 35-70 rings per inch) that tell a story of resilience. The wood's exceptional density and tight grain make it highly durable, resistant to decay, insects, and rot, while its eco-friendly sourcing ensures no living trees are harvested, preserving the region's forests.
Supported by sleek, black metal U-shaped legs, the table combines rustic charm with contemporary strength, providing stability for its impressive length—perfect for accommodating large meetings or executive gatherings. The table is enhanced with a dramatic black resin inlay that flows through the center, mimicking the waterways of the bayou and adding a modern, artistic flair. This resin not only reinforces the structure but also creates a stunning contrast against the wood's natural hues. The live edges reveal the wood’s natural contours and imperfections, each a testament to its watery history, ensuring that every Bayou Brees table is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Supported by sleek, black metal U-shaped legs, the table offers sturdy support and a contemporary aesthetic, complementing its organic top. Measuring approximately 20 feet in length, it provides ample space for large meetings, accommodating multiple chairs and modern conference technology with integrated cable management ports. This table not only serves as a functional workspace but also as a tribute to Drew Brees’ legacy and the enduring spirit of the bayou, fostering an environment of inspiration and productivity.
Perfect for corporate boardrooms, creative studios, or upscale home offices, the Bayou Brees Conference Table combines functionality with a deep connection to nature and history. Its robust construction and unique design make it a statement piece that fosters collaboration while reflecting the enduring spirit of the bayou landscape.
Why Sinker Cypress?
In Louisiana and the Southeastern United States, cypress logs were axe-cut in the 1800’s from virgin cypress forests. They were then transported to various destinations across the country. On their journey many were lost and submerged underwater, where they acquired vibrant colors from the surrounding environment. Hence the name “Sinker Cypress.” The ultimate color of each log varies depending on pH, silt content, water movement, salinity, length of time under water, and type of environment the tree originated. Their tight grain from slow growth is unlike any other lumber in today’s growing forests.
What does live edge mean?
The primary distinction between live edge and non-live edge is that live edge wood retains its natural edges, whereas non-live edge wood has been trimmed or modified. The choice between live edge and non-live edge ultimately depends on individual taste.

Notes
As raw wood is used in its natural form, the table shown in the picture will slightly vary from the one purchased. This is natural wood and finished with a clear, matte coating. It provides a protective layer that makes the table scratch resistant and easy to clean. Each piece is uniquely created and one of a kind. Cypress retains moisture in pockets, which can cause the wood to crack and split. Unlike other companies, Southern Wood uses a state-of-the-art vacuum kiln to dry wood and prevent this from happening. Every slab is kiln dried to 10-12% moisture content in our iDry vacuum kiln. Each table has its own distinct color variations and characteristics. Woods of the same species may vary in color, grain pattern, and texture. All wood slabs are typically cut at 2 ⅛” and finish out between 1 ½” to 1 ⅝”. Natural wood may display small splits, knots, or other organic features unique to each piece. This is a real wood table, and it will react to water, humidity, and heat as well. All pictured tables are finished with a matte sheen, although additional sheens are available. Other photos are of prior clients’ orders. Additional leg/base options are also available! Message us for further information on upgrades or further requests (additional charges may apply). The color of the wood in this image may vary due to lighting conditions, including natural and artificial light sources, which can alter its appearance. Actual colors may differ slightly from what is shown.
